In October, the Macao Orchestra travels to Hong Kong to perform in the world premiere of The Butterfly Lovers by the Hong Kong Ballet. Created by the company’s Choreographer-in-Residence Hu Song Wei Ricky, this full-length performance features a sweeping original score by acclaimed Chinese composer Tian Mi who references the classic Butterfly Lovers Violin Concerto. Macao audience can enjoy this production in their own city a month later, delighting in not only music and dance, but also stunning sets and costumes by Oscar-winning designer Tim Yip (Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon and Septime Webre’s ballet The Great Gatsby). Come relive the love story of Liang Shanbo and Zhu Yingtai, from best school friends to lovers for life. Be moved by this tale of romance and sacrifice.
